What we need from a Head of Group Accounting
- Be responsible for leading and managing the accounting function and financial operations
- Oversee a team of accounting professionals incl. external accountants and collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and international accounting standards
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities for audits, tax filings, transfer pricing and other statutory requirements
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure the organisation’s accounting practices remain compliant
- Partner with finance, legal, and executive teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
- Collaborate with business unit leaders to understand their financial needs and align accounting activities to meet their requirements
- Act as a critical point of contact for external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies
Core qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable
- Proven experience (8+ years) in accounting and financial management roles, preferably within venture building, startup ecosystems, or related industries
- Strong knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP) and local GAAP requirements in the EMEA region
- Experience managing and developing a team of accounting professionals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and cultures
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
- Attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
- English and Czech language, German will be a strong advantage
